A weekly report is due 24 hours prior to our group meetings. The report has to be in PDF (6 slides per page) but should be created along the lines of the sample report below following the giudelines.

For slides, please use this template and either apply it to your slides or copy it into a *.ppt file. Use fronts Arial and Comic Sans MS for headings/title and the body of slides, respectively. Make sure to create each bullet within the same, default text box of the body. Additional text boxes are strongly discouraged. You can check out some more NCSU CSC graphics art if needed.
For posters, please use this sample poster as a starting point; ask Carol Allen to get it printed (we previously use Kinko's or Imagers for printing).
Thesis documents are written in Latex in my group. There are official NCSU thesis templates for Latex (among others).
You should use the CVS repository for all our projects.
How to invoke Crossover Office under Linux -- You can also install Office with Wine under Linux (Wine is incl. in most distributions)
Please use Powerpnt (preferred) or xfig to create graphics; and Excel (preferred), JGraph with it's documentation or gnuplot for creating charts and graphs. For LaTeX papers, generate eps (see below).
How to create LaTeX-compatible EPS under Windows/Crossover/Wine:
- Follow each of these steps exactly!!!
- Office App: Scale graphs to fill the entire chart area / page (stretch to top/left/right/bottom margins)
- Office App: File, Page Setup, Margins (ONLY top,left,header all set to 0), Chart set to Custom
- Office App: Print to File using Apple Color Laserwriter 12/600 or Wine Postscript Driver (install driver if not available): produce fn.ps
  Excel w/ Crossover bug:If you print to a file, it will always print into ~/tmp.ps (home directory) or tmp.ps (current directory).
- Linux: ps2epsi fn.ps
  RedHat 9 bug: Please overwrite your /usr/bin/ps2epsi with this file.
- Linux: mv fn.epsi fn.eps
- Include fn.eps in LaTeX as follows:
  - If epsi in portrait mode:
```
\centerline{\psfig{figure=lookahead.eps, width=\columnwidth}}
```
  - If epsi in landscape mode (Notice: angle BEFORE width):
```
\centerline{\psfig{figure=lookahead.eps, angle=-90, width=\columnwidth}}
```
  - Alternatively to psfig, you can also use
```
\includegraphics[width=\columnwidth]{lookahead.eps}
```
    which, besides EPS, also supports PDF and JPG includes if pdflatex is used instead of latex.
- If this does not work, then you probably did not use a postscript driver for printing, and you're on your own. You can still try this instead of ps2epsi:
  
  Linux: eps2eps fn.ps fn.eps
  
  This will remove "Gnu Ghostscript" pop-up windows and may help to generate PDF later.
